It was the moment when the path to becoming a ceramic artist opened for a young man filled with dreams and hope. While studying international relations at the University of Colorado, Kazu soon began to develop an interest in the world of art.\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.utsuwa-hanada.jp\/hanada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20150617-kazu09.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br>\r\n\r\n      <p class=\"setsumei\">\r\n        He was particularly drawn to sculpture and studied under sculptor Jerry Wingren. Later, he met ceramic artist Takashi Nakazato. Spending time with Nakazato, who invested everything into food and dining, was more than enough to draw Kazu into the world of pottery.<br>\r\n        <br>\r\n        Although my stay in Colorado was only a few days, Kazu introduced me to many people. He had traveled to the US alone and built his network step by step. He has worked together with his friends to build his career, piece by piece. Without these many supporters, Kazu&#8217;s current work would not be possible. For his friends, Kazu has now become an irreplaceable presence.\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.utsuwa-hanada.jp\/hanada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20150617-kazu10.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br>\r\n\r\n      <p class=\"setsumei\">\r\n        When he first moved to the US or when he started pottery, he probably had no certainty about his future. It is simply the result of facing his own feelings honestly and directly. He has reached where he is today by gradually adapting to and embracing the environment and circumstances around him.<br>\r\n        <br>\r\n        Living and working abroad, doing what you love for a long time, building your own studio, or having a job that takes you around the world&#8230; These are things that many people might have thought about or wished for at least once. Kazu put them into action. He possessed the ability and the character to make them a reality.\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.utsuwa-hanada.jp\/hanada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20150617-kazu11.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br>\r\n\r\n      <p class=\"setsumei\">\r\n        I recall Kazu&#8217;s words:<br>\r\n        &#8220;When we were children, everyone enjoyed making things, didn&#8217;t they? But as people grow into adults, they start saying things like, &#8216;I&#8217;m not dexterous,&#8217; or &#8216;I&#8217;m not an artist.&#8217; They become controlled by preconceived notions. They get too caught up in things like the era or country they were born in, or the family they were raised in.&#8221;<br>\r\n        <br>\r\n        The feelings and joy of childhood. I believe he is truly serious about holding onto those pure feelings that could easily fade away if left alone. The environment and spirit of the United States, and the land of Colorado, surely support him in this.\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.utsuwa-hanada.jp\/hanada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20150617-kazu12.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br>\r\n\r\n      <p class=\"setsumei\">\r\n        With an open mind and high aspirations.<br>\r\n        We at Hanada hope that Kazu will be widely welcomed in Japan while maintaining his current pace. With this hope, we are holding his solo exhibition.<br>\r\n        We have a collection of outstanding works, spanning about 30 cartons.<br>\r\n        The lineup includes light flat plates in clean white glaze or rustic unglazed Yakishime that will make it hard to choose, mugs rich in texture, shape, and expression, pitchers showcasing his skill in handles and spouts, a wide variety of medium-sized bowls perfect for serving, and items that no sake lover can ignore, such as Katakuchi (lipped bowls), Tokkuri (sake decanters), and Guinomi (sake cups)&#8230;\r\n      <\/p>\r\n\r\n      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.utsuwa-hanada.jp\/hanada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/20150617-kazu13.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><br>\r\n\r\n      <p class=\"setsumei\">\r\n        &#8220;Making what is necessary for my own life.&#8221;<br>\r\n        &#8220;Ultimately, the food is the main character. The tableware I make is for eating, serving, and drinking sake\u2014nothing more and nothing less.&#8221;<br>\r\n        This collection of pottery truly embodies these &#8220;Kazu Rules.&#8221;\r\n
